So.Cal Sojourn

We decided to take an impromptu "familymoon" to Southern California for the long weekend. I had some floating holidays to use prior to my leave and Bri is soon to be ending his unemployment (yay!). So we thought, no better time to get away from the Bay for a few days.  

Disneyland was fun.  I forgot how small and quaint it is. A perfect size for someone 8 months pregnant to walk around.  Anderson had a blast and we were surprised with how much he remembered from DisneyWorld and asked about.  The next day we headed to Laguna Beach. It was really nice! We had dinner with Andy & Tracy.  Japanese BBQ didn't disappoint - Anderson loved it and thought Andy was hysterical! On Sunday we were able to pop up to Redondo Beach and visit Bri's cousin Aaron and his wife Jen.  They have the cutest Boston Terriers - Rosie and Popeye.  Anderson was so excited to see them and get kisses.  Then it was on to Santa Barbara to see Jamie. Anderson was just over the moon being able to hang out with Uncle Jamie.

Bathroom Remodel: Complete

I forgot to post the final pictures.  Everything is complete, shower glass doors and mirror.  Bri and I really like how it turned out.  Anderson loves his new tub but is really scared of the rain shower. Oh well. It's wasn't added for his benefit anyway.

BB#2 Photo

We did an elective ultrasound today to show Anderson his sister.  I had seen her twice this week - unplanned of course, but none were switched out of the 2D version as they were really checking fluid levels.  

Anderson was very interested in why they put jelly on my belly and then when he found out she was in water he asked "where are the fishes then".  Something to ponder.  Turns out she apparently has a full head of hair - I'm a bit skeptical even though were were told this earlier in the week.  I mean hair is cute and all but full on 1 inch long hair is kinda weird.  We'll see.  Anderson was caught up on this little fact the entire time and was like, oooh spiky hair, why?!? 

She had her hands in front of her face almost the entire time so we got very few shots, even though we tried for almost an hour and I moved around, took a walk and changed positions. No such luck.  Here's one of the better ones.  Note the dark around her face is supposedly the hair.  Think she's need a cut and blow-out fresh from the womb?

BTW, any guesses on names?  I won't make you guess - Anderson picked it out and tells everyone.  Her name: Goo Goo Ga Ga.  Ha ha ha. Seriously, that's what he calls her if you ask her name. Which is an upgrade from the previous name, Darth Vadar.

31 weeks and then some

We're at 31 weeks and some odd days right now and this little one decided to make it somewhat eventful.  I commented to Bri on Sunday that I hadn't felt her much, which is odd because she's all over the place and very active.  However, I didn't think much of it, more just a comment. Bri joked that maybe she was taking the day off for Mother's Day.  On Monday, I still hadn't felt her too much so I grabbed some OJ put my feet up and did some kick counts.  Again not too much.  Went to lunch and ordered a Mexican Coke (oh yeah, seriously good/bad but I love them now and again) and looked out for a hyped up baby.  Nothing.  So I called the dr and was told to go to L&D triage for a NST. 

Right away they found her heartbeat so I knew we were good.  They do the NST, she's moving but not as much as they would like, so I shuttle down the hall to the antepardum unit for an ultrasound to check fluid.  Well at this point the nurse asks, did you know your baby was breech?  Me: No, but it's still early anyway.  Nurse: Yes, but you're fluid is low.  Apparently low fluid means less movement; combine that with a breech baby - even less movement to feel.  Either way she was good and I was told to go home, put my feet up and drink a lot of water - return on Thursday for the same tests.

This am I went in, got another ultrasound to check fluid levels and they rose - so I must have just been dehydrated form a really warm and active weekend last week.  Bonus - she's now heads down, let's hope she stays that way. The nurse performing the ultrasound was great to chat with during the 45 minute monitoring. She confirmed that the baby is in fact a she and that she's does have some hair on her head - we saw it on the screen. 

I just need to remember to drink more - especially if we have some really warm days again.  However, I didn't mind the extra peak at the little one.

30 weeks

10 more weeks to go...or maybe less. Definitely not more though as I'm not allowed to go over and try for a VBAC. It's as they say, so close yet so far away. Lots to do.  We finally started clearing out the spare bedroom - which Anderson refers to as "Evita's Room" and it is beginning to resemble an actual bedroom a human will inhabit.  

We stripped, sanded and painted the dresser and side table. They are a really bright shade of yellow and give our neutral grey room a bit of a pop.  When we moved in we decided to paint all of our bedrooms the same shade of grey because I'm a fan and it's really easy to take all rooms in very different directions and look cohesive at the same time. Most of the trim in the room has been sanded and repainted. I left that part to Brian as we are very sure that some of the layers were lead based paint.  The bathroom construction left holes in both A's and BB2's rooms so there was some drywall patching to be done too. 

Speaking of the bathroom - we have been at 95% complete for about a week and a half.  We are awaiting the shower glass doors and mirror (same company) to be installed later this week.  They wouldn't come to measure until all was complete and it was as 2-3 week lead time for it to be made and installed. The electrician wanted to wait until the mirror was installed before he finished up his items (lighting, fan, new receptacles etc...).  So while we can use the bathroom we just can't use the shower - which I can't wait to try out.  The guest/kids bathroom might turn into mom's private spa.  Now that all is said and done, the work is great, albeit slow.  But the fact that we moved and/or replace all the rough plumbing, had to put in a new vent in the roof and literally had a hole in the house that showed the dirt under the house and the nails in the roof- I guess it's not too much to ask for such good work.  

30 weeks

Sheriff Woody Visits

We've been doing low-key birthday parties in the park or backyard for Anderson's birthday, and why not, we have a great yard!  This year we wanted to do something extra special, so we asked Sheriff Woody to come by and visit.  Being pregnant, it's much easier to have the entertainment be so easy.  It was fabulous.  There were about a dozen kids total and they had so much fun. After Woody left there was still a pinata to crack into.  Anderson cried when Dad went to town on it to get it open, but was soon okay once he saw all the goodies on the ground.

We had a great time!  A special shout out to my mom who made Anderson's vest and shirt (I might need to learn how to sew), to match Woody.
