Picture please

Anderson loves his little sister - he calls her his cutie pie, a phrase neither Brian and I used; he started calling her that on his own. He frequently nuzzles up to her or asks me to put her in his bed/next to him/on him etc...and then says "please may you take our picture." For real.  Its adorable. Now I present, the Anderson and Waverly gallery of love. All pictures were taken by request of Anderson.  Enjoy.

Andersonism Part II

Heard yesterday in our house -Anderson to Brian:

"I like boobies and chicken nuggets."

At least the kid knows what he likes...

BTW, his obsession with chicken nuggets is really just with the word.  His little group of boys in his class scream, sing, call each other and in general just say the word chicken nugget every 5 words to each other.  The song goes something like, chicken nugget - chicken nugget - chicken nugget etc... I come in to pick him up and am greeted by - hey chicken nugget!

Andersonisms

I know I've mentioned it before but Anderson is a ham who cracks us up.  In addition to being quite funny he is thoughtful, insightful and has an eclectic taste of music. Here are some of some of the latest "Andersonisms" as well as his current playlist that we must play while in the car... One day I will get his sing along on video - especially his "fist full of dollars" movement. Bonus points if you know song listed below that comes from.

My favorites:

1. On our way to school one morning we started talking about Halloween, because its never to early to figure out what costume to make.  I asked A what he would like to be.  He said a chicken nugget (funny story behind this - he's actually only eaten them 3x max). Um, ok I said. He then proceeds to tell me that dad will be ranch and I will be ketchup so he can "dip". I asked what sister (we are in a habit of calling her this) would be and he tells me that "she'll be a little kid...who eats the chicken nugget." Of course, how did I not get that.

2. We called my grandmother to wish her a happy birthday, and. A wanted to know where she lived. I told him, New Jersey.  He astutely says, oh like Nan. Then says well not now, Nan is in Hawaii.  Ha ha ha, little does he know NJ is probably the complete opposite of Hawaii.

3. Total boy moment here - while observing his naked body he says, " mom, my hands are big my feet are big, my penis is small" I died. It just was so random and I had to tell him that yes, compared to your hands and feet, penis' are smaller.

4. Speaking of body parts we have had to talk about mom's boobs and mommy's milk etc...since Waverly's arrival.  He's been very curious but I do have nightmares about what he could go to school and talk about.  I don't know how it works with much older boys and a Breastfeeding mom.  I'm a modest woman but in my house it's a boob free-for-all right now.

Back to the Andersonism- on the way home from school Waverly was crying.  He does his cute big brother thing, telling her it's okay, shushing and playing peek-a-boo in hopes of getting her to stop crying.  Well it didn't work this time and he tells me that he thinks she is hungry. I responded that yes, she probably was.  He then announces that she wants mommy milk to grow big and strong. I nod and say yes. He says "maybe she like kid milk from me. Nah, my nipples don't have milk." and gives a little chuckle. It was very funny and adorable.  I hope to remind him of this during his rehearsal dinner. :-)

Okay I know that was long winded but I really wanted to be able to look back and remember these gems.

Here's Anderson current list of songs he requests and sings along to in the car - it's eclectic to say the least.

1. Kanye- Flashing lights and others.
2. How bad can it be - from The Lorax soundtrack.
3. Alycia Keys - If I ain't got you. "please you play your wedding song?" gah - I die!
4. You've got a friend in me - Toy Story soundtrack.
5. Kiss- New York Groove
6. Boom Boom - children's song we have on a personalized cd. Boom boom ain't it great tobe Anderson...
7. The Wanted - I'm glad you came

The Kiss song is my favorite - he screams "louder, louder!" and we have to rock out. He clenches his fist and shakes it in the air as he and Ace Frehley sings " with a fist full of dollars..." it's so darn cute! It's also the song they play at Giants stadium everytime the Giants score a TD.

1 month old!

Wow, one month has certainly flown by this time around. Waverly is a great little one. No exciting developments in this first month, but I did get some sweet little coo's the other day. She's eating and sleeping well, in fact, she graced us with an 8+ hour sleep the other night. It's not normal but we took it. We'll have her one month stats tomorrow but I don't anticipate anything earth shattering. Bri and I make small children, it's a proven fact.  I'll be happy if she's at 8lbs, but I think it might be a stretch as it took her 3 weeks to get back to birth weight.

As with Anderson I'm going to take a monthly photo of her (then yearly after 1) with her Bunny.  Who knows maybe we'll have photos of a 20 year Anderson with Julius and 20 year old Waverly with the bunny.

Almost 2 weeks in...

...as a family of 4 and it's going really well. Perhaps because it is not our first rodeo or the fact she's slightly easier/calmer than Anderson was - but we are not totally overwhelmed as I anticipated us to be. Even Evita is calm this time around.

Anderson is smitten with his baby but outside of one photo where he held her (to postpone bedtime) he's rarely touched her at all. Slowly but surely he is getting closer. He does give us play by plays though, "look mommy, she loved her hand!", said proudly.

Sleep is still a bit elusive, as we have a little hungry guts on our hand who just cluster feeds all.night.long (or so it seems to me). One night will be terrible and the next we'll get 4hours of consecutive sleep. Recovery for me has been pretty easy - much different than the c-section recovery I had with A. Don't get me wrong I was up and going but I didn't feel all around so well as fast. I'm enjoying this fact!

Some pics from the past two weeks. Anderson is in swim lessons at school now and having a blast!

Introducing Waverly Rose

We are thrilled to share that Waverly Rose completed our family today at 10:10am. She's beautiful and looks just like her big brother when he was born. We are over the moon! Don't you want to eat those cheeks?!

Waverly is a name Bri and I have always both loved - first seeing it in the book, The Joy Luck Club. Rose is in honor of Brian's Tai Poa Poa and everything I have heard about her just shows she was remarkable and no one more fitting to honor.

Checking items off the list

The new bedroom is complete.  It's really an amazing transformation of the space.  I think Brian and I stepped in that room maybe a half a dozen times since we moved in the house 18+ months ago.  There was just no need.  Guests stayed in there, but other than that it was known as "Evita's Room" because that's where she hung out while we were at work. No so much anymore.  I don't have any good before photos, but here's the after!  We didn't have to paint the room, luckily when we moved in Bri and I decided to have all the bedrooms painted the same color grey for consistency.  It's a perfect neutral and if I do say so myself, all rooms look great and totally different because of the textiles & accent colors used in each room.

Big kudos to Bri for stripping the dresser and side table and then repainting them.  He was the one inspired to do the yellow - and boy did it take a lot of deep base primer and coats of paint to get them looking like that.   I can't imagine them any other way - I love it!
